If you Want Good Eats, Go where the Chefs Go – Side Street Inn, Honolulu, HI
We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to eat at some of the best local Hawaiian restaurants on Oahu. A few of years back a business colleague turned me on to a place called Side Street Inn.
Whenever you talk to a local about Side Street Inn, you usually hear them tell you how you have to try their Da’ Spicy Garlic Chicken and Da’ Famous Pan Fried Island Pork Chops. The boneless chicken is fried to crispy perfection and tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean sauce. The pork chops are lightly breaded, pan-fried and melt in your mouth.
Locals may also mention this is the place made famous by island chefs like Sam Choy, and Roy Yamaguchi as they, along with other chefs, are known to frequent Side Street Inn’s original location in downtown Honolulu.
We have been there three times since the original recommendation and it is still a place I look forward to for weeks before each visit. The spicy chicken and the fried pork chops are both amazing and are “must tries” but I also strongly recommend their kimchi fried rice and pan-fried Ahi belly!
They now have a second location that is bigger and has more parking so you have twice as many opportunities to try this local favorite.
